Our annual Cheers to You Town Beautification project has now brought new sparkle, fun and play to the Lumberton, North Carolina community in the form of an accessible playground.
In 2020, the Sparkling Ice team decided to launch the Cheers to You Town Beautification program to spread sparkle and cheer across America by partnering with small towns whose parks and recreational areas needed rebuilding, restoration or enhancements.
South Lumberton is a region of Lumberton, North Carolina that has suffered mass destruction from hurricanes and flooding over many years. Our team wanted to help, so we installed a new playground area, giving kids the opportunity to engage in a variety of fun activities. This playground is the first of its kind in the Lumberton community, featuring sensory play apparatuses designed to cater to all children, including those with disabilities. This is a positive step toward rebuilding a neighborhood recovering from natural disasters while bringing families of all ages together.
The new play space was revealed on March 26 with a ribbon cutting ceremony, speeches from local officials including Lumberton Councilman John Canty, the Mayor’s City Manager Wayne Horne, and Lumberton Parks and Rec Director Tim Taylor. The local Fire Department and Police Department also joined us for the celebration.
The team at Sparkling Ice is honored to support the community of Lumberton in this way, and we hope the new playground helps to create joy and moments of fun for years to come.
