Sparkle 5K event rallies Rain Makers in support of girls discovering, building and growing their self-confidence

Sunshine, sneakers and lots of smiles set the scene last week as Rain Makers and their families laced up their running shoes for one of our most beloved traditions – the Sparkle 5K. In partnership Girls on the Run International, our annual event transformed a crisp fall morning into a celebration of confidence, community and giving back.
Our warm-up leader, Tom N., had everyone stretching, laughing and ready to run, walk, or jog the scenic course.
As runners crossed the finish line, many high-fived each other before lining up to receive their Sparkle 5K medal and event-branded pin – mementos of an afternoon spent moving for a meaningful cause.
Participation soared this year as 88 Rain Makers participated, joining in person or virtually. For each person who took part, Talking Rain donated a pair of Adidas running shoes to Girls on the Run Puget Sound, helping ensure girls have the gear they need for their upcoming season of growth and discovery.
Coolers stocked with Sparkling Ice, Popwell, MIXT, and AQA kept everyone refreshed, while a line-up of food trucks kept spirits high and stomachs full, turning the post-race celebrations into a festive campus party.
The heart of the day was best captured by Girls on the Run International’s Chief Development Officer, Liz Wian:
“The Sparkle 5K is a shining testament to Talking Rain’s vibrant and strong culture in action. Girls on the Run is deeply honored to be the beneficiary of this extraordinary event, which not only unites our mission with the passion of the Rain Makers, but also amplifies its impact by generously donating shoes for girls in the program.”
One enthusiastic Rain Maker added, “I love being able to support Girls on the Run through events like the Sparkle 5K. It’s an easy way to help girls have access to athletics, which is something that’s always been important in my life. I really appreciate the opportunity to donate shoes and support the nonprofit through Talking Rain.”
From first stretch to last bite, the Sparkle 5K highlighted the energy and generosity that define the Rain Maker community. Thank you to all who made the magic happen, including our friends at Woodinville Running Company for race timing support – and here’s to sparkling together again next year!
